What is custom AI development?
It is the design of an artificial intelligence solution built for a company's specific context: its data, its tools, its processes. In practice: a conversational AI agent, a business process automation, an integration with the CRM, ERP or document management system, a RAG pipeline over a document base, or a web app with embedded AI. Unlike SaaS software, the solution adapts to your business rather than the other way round.
How much does custom AI development cost?
At Codito Ergo Sum, from €3,000 excl. VAT, quoted after scoping. Three orders of magnitude: €3,000 to €8,000 excl. VAT for a specialised agent, an automation or a one-off integration; €8,000 to €25,000 excl. VAT for a business web app, a RAG pipeline or a multi-channel assistant; above €25,000 excl. VAT for a full platform, a multi-agent system or a mobile app with a backend.
How long does it take to develop a custom AI solution?
Scoping takes one to two weeks: technical specification, architecture, estimate and schedule. Development then progresses through iterative deliveries with regular demos: the first deliveries arrive in days, not months.
Who owns the code of the solution?
You do. At go-live, you own the solution, the code, the data and the accounts. Handover includes documentation, training for end users and technical teams, and post-delivery support.
How is project risk managed?
Through two safety nets. Payment follows milestones defined at scoping: each step is a verifiable deliverable, and you pay for what has been validated. And the functional and technical objectives are written into the contract, backed by a full or partial refund guarantee if they are not met.
Custom development or SaaS: how to choose?
SaaS is enough when your need is standard and the tool covers it without contortions. Custom development is justified when the value lies in your own data or processes, when several existing tools need to be connected, or when data cannot leave Europe or your information system. In that case we build on sovereign models such as Mistral or Llama, or on-premise.
Who maintains the solution once it is in production?
Your team can take it over, since you own the code and the documentation. If you prefer to delegate, the Enterprise Partnership takes operational responsibility for your AI ecosystem: monitoring, security, fixes and improvements, with a contractual service level.
